Description
Gear Down and Go Big
Honda’s most fun side-by-side is
about to get even better. Put 8” GDP Portals on your Honda Talon 1000X and you
open up a whole new world of fun. With a huge increase in ground clearance and
a massive 45% gear reduction, you’ll blaze a new trail and go everywhere your
buddies can’t.
GDP—the Most Trusted Name in
Portals
When you choose GDP, you’re not choosing the odd man
out. More people roll on GDP portals than any other portal system. They’re the
most trusted and the most trail proven. And with thousands of riders hitting
the trail every weekend, it’s about time you joined the club.
Perfect for Mud
Portals and mud go together like
chocolate and peanut butter. With all that extra ground clearance and torque-
boosting 45% gear reduction, you’ll roll over and push through any mud hole
you find. If you want to do mud the right way, you want GDP.
A Gear Reduction That Protects Your Drivetrain
A portal
gear reduction protects your drivetrain because the reduction happens in your
hub instead of in your transmission. That means your axles, differential, prop
shaft, and transmission will wear less than stock even if you ride harder than
stock. It’s a win-win.

how tire size and gear reduction can unleash your machine’s potential.
Unmatched Gear Material
Our 9310 alloy steel gears
make these the most top-of-the line gears you can get. On top of being
bulletproof, these precision-ground gears mate perfectly each and every time
so you get smooth, quiet portals no matter how hard you ride.
Stronger Housings by Design
Think you can get a stronger
portal housing than GDP? Think again. It takes precision engineering,
consistency, and unmatched experience to make a housing that can stand the
test of time. That’s exactly what we’ve done. So whether you get a cast
aluminum or USA-made billet aluminum housing, you’re getting the most used,
most abused, and most trusted housing on the planet.
- Our housings are
reinforced in all the right places - They’re built with better oil flow
and gearing forces in mind - There are no gimmicks and no vents because
vents do more harm than good—we know because we tested them
The Strongest Portal Backing Plates You Can Get
You
can’t skimp on backing plates because they’re what holds your hubs to your
suspension. That’s why we use a premium steel alloy that’s stronger than
chromoly and designed for ultra-high force applications. At 5/16” thick, these
hand-weld plates won’t bend or break even when you’re hitting jumps and diving
into bounty holes. They’re the last thing that’ll break on your machine.
Advanced Gaskets and Seals
Whether you go with
cast or billet, both housings use:
- Advanced Thermo-Tork®
gaskets with excellent oil resistance and a lower deterioration rate than
Kevlar gaskets - Rubber O-rings that completely seal the housings
- A sealed input gear and double-lipped output seal
- 100% sealing
coverage throughout so you can forget about oil leaks
Bearings That Rock
We don’t cut corners on our bearings
either—from top to bottom GDP is built for battle. Our output shaft rolls on a
double-angular contact bearing that’s designed to survive you smashing into
rocks and stumps. They’ll keep your output running true no matter what.
Universal Hubs and Slotted Rotors
Our precision-
ground, stainless steel slotted rotors stay cool to give you the braking power
you need when you need it. They come with 4/156, 4/137, 4/115, and 4/110 bolt
patterns and lugs. These are the most popular bolt patterns and it makes your
life easy—just about any side-by-side wheels you get your hands on will work
with these hubs. We invented the tapered output shaft that our hubs attach to,
which provides a more secure lock that won’t wobble or wear over time.
Reinforce Your UTV with a Frame Stiffener
The Talon
is brutally fast and an awesome Honda side-by-side, but that doesn’t mean it
can handle everything. An 8” GDP portal kit is a heavy-duty piece of hardware
for heavy-duty machines. That’s why 8” portals require a frame stiffener.
Trust us—we’ve hit enough bumps to know that bending a stock frame can happen.
Don’t do it. Get a frame stiffener.
